Subject: RE: Exhaust leak after towing?

Message:
I've got a 97 Dakota with 67K miles and it has an exhaust leak as well. I don't drive it but 4 to 5 times a month. The inspection has expired and they won't pass it with the leak. I haven't "climbed" under the hood yet, but will have to soon. Are there any comarisons on the cost of replacing the manifold vs. changing to headers? How does this effect fuel mileage, or does it?

Thanks,
Jeff

My 94 V6 4x4 club cab is missing two bolts on the drivers side exhaust manifold and it still doesn leak. I have towed lots of heavy stuff. There are no gaskets on the manifold, several auto makes don't use gaskets on the exh. anymore.
My truck has 180k miles with very few repairs (steering idler link, fuel pump, clutch) required, I do wish it had a little more power though.
