wouldn't it be nice to do away with the computer and all the sensors and just have a carb. like back in the old days. Then most people could fix their own truck without spending the big bucks for a high priced mechanic.

FI and especially MPI is the most efficent means available to deliver fuel to the system.

now if gas was at 50 cents a gallon and its easy to afford to waste gas....

Yea gots to go with slim on this. Fuel economy since fuel injection has been introduced is way better than the old carb days. Same reason why I dont want to get one of those 340 hp 318 crate engines to replace the ol mighty 3.9

i don't know guys. i'm with DaveT. give me a good ole spread bore 4bbl. as long as you'd keep the pedal of the floor you could make decent mileage. and throttle response was right on too if it was tuned right.

As long as I've got a code reader and a factory service manual I'm usually happy. I've got the injected Dak and two vehicles with carbed V8s and to me they're not easier or harder to maintain, just different.

One thing I absolutely DON'T miss is breaker point distributors (that's pre-electronic ignition for all you youngsters).

Its just the old ignorant guys that always have the "give me a carb over mpi anyday" stories. I'm sure back in the day you fvcks were just as clueless on carb tunning as you are now on the mpi systems. What crutch did you use back then when you had no fvcking clue?? "Oh give me a pedal car over this new fangled internal combustion doodad anyday"

my old slant 6 was easy to work on and got better gas mileage than my Dakota v6. It was in a Plymouth Volare and it had a two barrel carb that I had rebuilt myself.

I kinda miss the '90 Firebird I had with a 3.1L V6 - very reliable motor (at least the one I had was), 188K on it and still getting 25-30mpg when I got rid of it.
