best and cheapest way to lift a dakota a few inches, this is an everyday driving truck and budget is a big issue, also what size tires and wheels will fit under the truck stock?

The biggest I ever got to fit were 31x9.5's before I decided to lower it. If it's a 4WD, tighten up the torsion bars in front to gain a few inches, and put raised rear leaf spring shackles in it to lift the rear. The torsion bar mod is free :), and I think shackles are around $60 for the set. That should give you a few inches.

thanks for the advice, yes it is 4wd, i was wondering if i was too put longer shocks in the front or even bolt in a set of coil over shock units, first of all is that possible and will it give me any more lift

crank the torsion bars and put a 2" add-a-leaf in the back. $60
add a body lift. 2" or 3" from trail master. about $100 for your local off road shop + install (or do it yourself, its easy and FREE
stock you can run 235/75r15s on the stock rims
the torsion bar crank will give clearance for 31x10.5x15"s on a 15x8 in rim (5" back space)
add the 3" body lift to the torsion bar crank, you can run 33x12.5x15"s on a 15x8" rim (4" backspace) with a lil trimming

I had a '90 that I did a 3" body lift on. Had the blocks and steering extension made by a welder. 31x10.50's fit okay, but don't use wheel that stick out too much, or they will rub fenders bad!!!
