Only 4 wheel drive Dakotas and Durangos were recalled, unless something has changed. The new '04 Dakotas and some other Chrysler vehicles were recalled just in the past few days. They have had trouble with the vehicle rolling while in park, or something like that.

don't remember the specifics, but my 99 2wheel was Not covered, and I gave my dealer plenty of playful grief over it. (they had just replaced my balljoints under my extended warranty from a different issue).

I have spoke to the dealers here and gone online and emailed them several times about my 99 2wd. They will not replace them, so I just finally broken down and have replace all but one on the drivers side so far.

Ok, so I have been searching about this "squeak" coming from the front passenger side of my 99 2wd dakota, is it pretty established now that it is most likely the ball joints?? Thats what I have been seeing on many of the pages.

I think balljoint problems usually include more than just a "squeak"

I had a squeak coming from the passenger side also. Before and after I replaced the ball joints. I am thinking that is is the bushing somewhere.

ok, well im not too great with working on vehicles and this is the first problem I have had with this truck. I have noticed that when I drive in the rain or after a car wash, the squeaking stops for awhile then starts back up after the water "dries". Could the squeak possibly be caused from not being lubed or greased? Like I said i'm not too familar with working on vehicles so any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is your Rubber Bushings on the upper or lower control arms. Try spraying WD or a Silicone Lube on them. That will stop your annoying squeak for a little while.

I got a '99 2-wheeler and it needed the ball joints done bad. No problems since they were done. Didn't get a recall notice though.

i just got my tires put on saturday and then i called a dealership about the balljoints. he ran my VIN # and said that there were no recalls or extended warranties on my truck for the ball joints. i told him about my problem with the outside of the tires wearing bad and he said that it was my toe-in. he told me that an alignment would solve this. oh and i have a 2000 quad cab 2wd v6.

thanks daddio. i am gonna check into that. i am not the original owner of the truck so i dont get any thing from dc. when i take it in to get the other two tires and alignment, i will get them to see if the ball joints are bad or not. dodge wont fix something under an extended warranty that aint broke, so if they are not bad yet, then i will have to leave them on there. hopefully the alignment will fix it, but if the ball joints are in fact bad, im takin it to dodge. ill shove my size 13 boot in there a$$ til they fix it.

Silly question but I'm a first time truck owner...Are all recalls free? Just take your truck to a dodge dealer and they will fix all recalls for your make and model? I have a 2001 v6 4x4. Anybody got a list of recalls on that model?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
