Subject: common problems?

I was just wondering what common problems people have had with this year of dakota. Its currently got 144k on it and I have changed the tranny filter, timing chain, TPS sensor(didnt need it), IAC(computer told it to do two things at once and fried it) plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coil(slight crack, nothing bad at all), thermostat to 180degree, brake pads, sending unit for the fuel gauge.

am just wondering what other common problems could arise. with the exception of the timing chain(which was loose as a goose) the IAC, and the sending unit. everything else was just prevenitive maintence.

really dont like to wait for things to go bad before I fix em.

its of 96 3.9 2wd

Really? oh my, wheres your transmission shop located so I can take it in? will you fix it for a reasonable price for me? im sure that whole transmission you just changed for that elderly lady that only needed a filter change is for sale real cheap?

when do you think the tranny will go out? tommorow? I mean its not like transmissions go out when they hit high mileage regardless of the make and model...or wait...do they? im sure they dont show warning signs either!

no need to get smart, just stating that all dakotas sooner or later drop the tranny. Mine happened at 131k. Had no warning signs. The torque converter started going bad without any symptoms, shavings clogged a check ball and stopped lubrication, fried the transmission. So yes yours could just give up tomorrow. and if I had the transmission shop it wouldn't have cost me $1600
