Help me!! For 2 years my truck sounds like a friggin jet plane, it "chugs" if you nail the gas, and the RPM's seem way to high (hence sounding like a jet). No one in this one horse town has a clue as to what could be wrong. Any asst would be appreciated. Thanks, T

sounds like your fan clutch has crapped out on ya, i had a 2000 cc service truck at work that did that, damn thing was louder than hell, your best bet is to replace it with an electric fan.

How does the fan clutch going out make that sound
Because when i get back from a trip, or not driving my truck (same,
99 4x4 v6, it makes that jet plane sound from the fan.. but only for
2-3 mins.. other wise, if i drive my tuck daily or every ohter day, it
never does it at all... that makes no sense, why would my clutch fan
only do that for a few mins when my truck sits for a while???

the bearings in the fan get dry and cause that noise to come forth, a local mechanic where i live had said that he had worked on a bunch of daks with the same problem, he said it was better to replace the fan with an electric aftermarket fan, so the problem would not return.

they also have whats called a viscous fan that is variable speed. when its in high like when it first starts up or the engine is at high rpms itll sound like a roar.

Hey everyone, thanks for the advice. I do have a new mechanic who seems decent and nice to women in trucks with a baby!!! My dear hubby has been driving my beloved for the past year or so. I have finally wrangled it back and have banished him to his Ford Ranger, HAHAHAHAHAHA!! I spent hours today cleaning her up (hubby is a bit of a slob). Will post again as soon as I find out what is wrong. Thanks!!!!!! :)
