my friend has one of those screaming monkeys and im tired of him being able to pull on me...
when i have the money, what would u guys suggest be my next upgrade to be able stomp on this guys Jeep.
1993 Dakota LE 3.9L auto. (TB, K&N, 3 inch w/ magnaflow)

we have a 98 jeep and the gears they put in those things is what makes them so fast. do you catch him when you guys get over 60mph. i race my friends s-10 4.3 v6 againist are jeep 4.0 and i easily took him to 60mph but after i got out of the tq band and hit the 120hp his s-10 145hp prove to be faster down the 1/4.
what gears are in your truck because lower gears would problemly put you in the lead. but its not worth the gas that comes with the lower gears.
when you race do you hold your rpms right under your stall speed? that will help you of the line in less you spin the tires a good deal.

yeah we do 60 rolls all the time and we always tie. i think they are 3.55s, like i said in that other forum that year came with 3.90s too.
oh and what do u mean when u say, "hold your rpms right under your stall speed" do u mean when we race from a dig? cuz when we do that i just have the gas on with the brake too, that seems to be the best way i can do it...or the old have it in neutral and slam it into 1st haha

neutral drop. i wish i still had the picture of a dodge tranny after a few drops like that, found it online a while back, can't seem to dig it up. pretty much looked like a grenade went off inside. fistfuls of metal shrapnel. severe transmission failure. you get the point.
if you're into beating on your truck, you might as well save your money for replacement parts instead of mods.

put your foot on the brake give it gas in till about 1400rpm. when the race starts take foot off the brake and slam the gas to the floor.haha then you'll show that jeep who's boss.

yeah ive tried that many times, it works good for other victims but not for this jeep ehhh
when i get the time and money i want to buy and install the krc cams and roller rockers.
that should help.
but what would u recomend. 1.6 or 1.7?

Get the Harland Sharp 1.7 Roller Rockers. They help pick up a good bit of top end and make your truck a little quicker off the line. They are about $220.

if you're going to get a cam with any apreciable lift, you better go with 1.6RR's.
don't take that 'ole jeep 4.0 straight 6 for granted. especially if it's the HO version.

Yeah, I had a few problems with the people running the Dyno, but I should have some results this week some time.
I know what you mean about the Jeep, too. My dad has owned 3 Jeeps with the 4.0L and they have all been powerful. Good luck trying to beat that guy.

there's a lot of variables. valve to piston clearance, gross valve lift, etc. best bet, talk to the guys at KRC. they seem knowledgable enough to recommend a cam/ cam kit & what rockers to use. i have a set of 1.7 crowers that i need to install.

i got a deal on the Crowers for $295 shipped. it seems now that everyone is after the Harland Sharpe's. they just bolt right in. with the Crower's, you have to set the valve lash. not a big deal. i think the Crowers are higher quality. the ones i have are stainless steel. i don't know that the harland's are.

It could be a problem if your friend discovers Clifford Performance- then you could be in for a real battle. Both the 3.9 and the 4.0 respond very well to performance modification, both have the reputation for iron-clad invincibility.
