 Subject: Need temp gage help

Hi All,
My temp gage dosen't work. Never moves, stays on cold. I Installed a new sending unit and it still won't work. I measured about 5 volts across the plug. that seems low. shouldn't it be 12 volts? Any suggestions for repairing? My Haynes manual does not cover this item!
It is the two prong plug on a 1990 3.9 mounted close to coolant thermostat.

ops. re-read book. the two prong temp gage is for computer, single prong is for gage. I was reading section on single prong and looking at my double thinking it was the only one I had.
