I was thinking of removing my cat and modding the post cat o2 sensor. Has anyone tried this? What are the pros and cons of doing this? Also, does anyone know exactly how to mod the post cat?

I have a 99 v6 automatic, club cab, 2wd, cold air intake, v8 throttle boddy, 180 thermostat, relocated iat.

I gutted my cat out and of course a code was thrown. Heres what I did: I when to an electronic store (radio shack here did not have one) and got a 680k ohm @ 1/4 watt resistor and a 0.1 uf cap. I wired the cap in between the signal wire and the ground to the sensor (the white wires are for the heater in the o2 sensor, so don't use those), and then I put the resistor in series with the signal wire. Heres how it should look:

o2 sensor - cap (between signal and ground) - resistor (in series with signal wire) - pcm

I have drove for about 1000 miles so far. The light came back on at about 500 and then shut off in about 5 miles. Other than that no problem so far. Hope this helps

I was thinking of trying this too, but I wasnt sure how to do the cat mod. Does anyone have any pictures of how to do it? Did it make the low end torque go to crap?

"What are the pros and cons of doing this?" Con is that you become one - it's a felony to remove or disable any emissions control, and a $2,500 fine. Is it worth a criminal record?

No pro to it - many others have reported that a high-flow cat provides great power and no noticeable restriction.
