 Subject: High idle at start up

i have a 98 3.9L and lately it has been starting hard. but just reently to top the hard start it will idle at about 1500 rpm after a cold start. what might be the cause of this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

try cleaning your IAC usually is effected in warmer conditions but may do it at start, as well run some lucas fuel treatment through it.

Look for a vaccum leak. especially the pcv valve conection and the test port just under where it connects to the manifold. It should have a rubber cap over it.

where is the IAC located and what does it look like? i know what it is and does, i just dont know what it looks like or where it is.

IAC is at the rear of the TB pointing toward the firewall. It is held in by 2 torx screws.
Be careful when cleaning it to not push or twist the plunger.

On the back of the TB(closest to the firewall)It is held on by 2 torx type screws. It will have a little plunger on tip that get gunked up with carbon.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
