Subject: Trail Mark APR Tires

Hey everyone. I was wondering about these tires which I have found to be similar to the BF All Terrains in tread pattern. They are the Trailmark APR Tires which are manufactured by Kelly Springfield. I was wondering if anyone currently runs these tires and what they think of them, or where I can find a review on this tire. I am currently running a 265/70/16. I will be soon replacing a set of BF Long Trails which wore out in just under 20,000 miles. My truck, for whatever reason, just seems to eat tires. My alignment is good, as is the air pressure at all times. These Trail Marks are what I am currently leaning toward because of the low price, as well as the tread pattern. What does everyone think about them? I appreciate any input. Thank You.

Are you wearing tires out on the outside edge? Because your factory alignment requires positive toe, which causes the tires to lean on the outside edge. And during cornering it forces the tires to lean out even more, which eats up tires very quickly. I never liked wearing out tires like that, so I had the truck aligned with .5 degrees of negative camber, so now the tires wear VERY subtly on the inside edge. It's not even noticeable. Plus, on the tire choice. I would not go with the BF's. I've tried many a tire (Goodyear Wranglers (garbage), BF Long Trail T/A's, BF Land Terrains, Yoko Geolanders, Bridgestone Dueler HT's. And the one tire I recommend to every Dakota owner is the Kumho Road Venture A/T. Amazing tire. Cheaper than all the rest, and outperforms em all. It's quiet, smooth, and has lasted me 50000 so far. Plus, it has great traction all around.

The tires have hardly worn on the outside edges. The middles, however, are right at the wear bars. I just ordered the Trail Marks from a local tire shop today, so we will see how they perform. I will post back when I test them a little.

get an alignment done and some negative camber put in the front end and you will never have a problem with tires wearing on the outside edge.

I bought my 2002 F350 super duty, super cab, 4X4, long bed, V10, truck in Billings Montana. It had a brand new set of Trailmark APR tires on it (265/75R16)Load Range "E". Mileage on the truck when i bought it was 55,000. The mileage on my truck is now 77,000. I still have the Trailmark APR tires on and love them, let me explain: I moved my family from Great Falls, Montana to Fairbanks, Alaska from 24 Jan 05 to 31 Jan 05 driving with my truck fully loaded to include a Safari topper on the back. We traveled the Alcan highway. The road was covered with snow and ice for most of the way. Tires did great. This past summer we drove from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle, 400 miles (round trip) 200 of that on one of the worst gravel roads in the world (just ask anyone who has traveled it). When traveling that road they recommend you carry a couple of spare tires. I didn't, and luckily didn't need them. The Trailmark APR tires did great!!!! It is now Mar 2006 and the we are about to come out of winter (one of the longest winters of my life). The truck stayed in 4-wheel drive most of the winter. The tires do great in snow and ice. They do not wear unevenly. I've rotated them a couple of times and they still look great and look as good as new. I was thinking about writing KellySpringfield a letter of thanks for making a tire that is tough, rugged, rides well, and last like no other tire i've owned. Sorry i didn't see this sooner to reply sooner.

I have a 91 toyota that see's some offroad time and these tires in the mud do not meet my expectations. My buddy has a 95 toyota and he has the BFG A/T's they are all around a better tire in my opinion he has had them alot longer than i have had my TrailMark's and his tires are still showing less wear than mine. So the best way to say it is you get what you pay for.

Flicka is an absolute idiot. Why does nearly everyone expect and ALL TERRAIN tire to perform superbly in mud? That's why they make MUD TIRES!

With all terrians you have to realize what your getting, their capabilities and their limits. If you want to play in the mud, get a friggin' mud tire for God's sake. I've seen the almighty BFG AT KO's get stuck in MUD. Duh.

I had 2 sets of Long Trails on my 1998 ZR2 blazer. Lasted 100K each time. I have seen then wear to fast because people put them on RAM 2500's or whatever. They are a Light Truck tire. Not sure why they would wear on a Dakota so fast?

The APR tires came on my 2004 Durango 5.7 Hemi. The tread is awesome. They are a so called cheaper tire sold at even Walmart. As mentioned, excellent on gravel and pavement. They are a hard tire opposed the TA line. Still not bad on snow ice. Noise is an issue with these at highway speeds. If your tight for cash, go for it. If you can shell out at least a couple hundred extra for a softer tire, it is probably the way to go.

The APR's in 265/75/16 where great tires for a couple years till I put a little extra air in them in hopes to get somewhat better gas mileage in my fuel hungry Dakota. I put the max tire inflation labeled on the sidewall. I think it says 44psi?? Anyways I was running them at 35 and they were hardly wearing at all, and I'm not exactly nice to my tires (hard cornering and occasionally spinning on pavement). I put more pressure in them and about 6 months I noticed the center rib is warn in with good tread on the sides. Now these tires work great for hydroplaning on heavy rainy days. So pretty much its a good tire for the money if you treat it right and keep the pressure under 40 pounds.

I have 1 of the Trail Mark 265/75/16C tires, used for 1500 miles. We had a blowout in Quebec and had to take what would fit our small truck, 2003 Toyota Tacoma, in order to get home to Colorado. I don't know where you are, and if the "70" would be a problem for you, since you need "75".

Sorry about that first post. I got the numbers mixed up. Anyway, if you decide on the Trail Mark tires and a "75" would work, and you are near where I live, you could save half the price on a new tire.

I live in Southern Maine so that would be quite a hike for me. Haha. But thank you for the offer I would if I where closer. My tires are "75" but I probably should have gone with the 70's because they rub the plastic inner fender well. I wanted a little narrower tire to dig better in the snow during winter but they were just a hair too tall and rub. So I cut little holes in the inner fender and pulled them away some with wire so the tire doesnt rub anymore.

I bought a set of these tires for my Dodge Dakota in 2006. (235/75/15). Since I bought them, I've only put 14,000 miles on the tires. Last weekend, I was backing up with my trailer and when I cleared the curb, the sidewall rolled over and pinched the sidewall causing a leak. I was quite surprised by this, because I would have thought the sidewall was have been a little stiffer. Anyway, I also noticed weather checking on all the tires. I was really disappointed in these tires. (And yes they were properly inflated). Lastly, these tires really howl when you drive down the road. The local dealer that I purchased the tires from quit selling them, so I was basically stuck with 3 good tires. I've since purchased Goodyear Wrangler tires. At least I know I get them if something goes wrong.
