 Subject: using oil

first of all any help will be greatly appreciated. I have a
2000 cc sport 3.9L 5-spd and at around 2500-3000
miles after an oil change it starts to burn oil. i'm running
mobile 1 synthetic. only mods i have are gibson cat
back exhaust and a k&n drop in air filter. thanks for any
help
