Do you Dak fans think the 2005 design is better eye candy or prefer the older flavor?
Personal opinion, I think the last generation looked sleaker with better lines. Those "projector" headlamps and Euro "Alteza" tail lights are cheese. Maybe they should ship with 20" chrome spinner wheels...bling, bling.

I hated the new look when I saw it previewed in December, 2002. I still hate it. I'll keep my 2002 QC until it desintegrates.

i don't like the 05, but i admit i did see one that had alot of exterior mods and was pretty sweet looking. it would be the only 05 i would drive, but only if it came like that from the factory. at least they beat the colorado or those honda ridgelines. nothing will ever touch the gen III's when it comes to looks, in my opinion.

the 05 looks better on the taller 4x4s I think. It's kinda growing on me like the older version did.

I think they're ugly but my wife bought one so I can't say it too loud.
The sharp corners and pointy things look stupid. I like the sleek lines of the older models.
I agree that the Durangos look even worse. Too much body work for no reason.

The new Dakota is too BIG!. Why not just buy a Ram.
The new Dakota weighs more and gets poorer fuel mileage than the 72-93 Full size Rams.
The 97-2004 Dakotas are sharp and the right size as far as Length, width, and height, but are way too heavy.
They should have made the new Dakota the same size or a little smaller and cut some fat. In this day of $2.50/ gallon gas. All car manufacturers are going the wrong way. Even the 2005 Tacoma is bigger than the 2004

I'll keep my 93 til the wheels fall off. then once that is complete ill put them back on and drive it some more. the 05's look like crap and its the best truck on the market so...i say just rebuild what ya got til the day they come out with something worth driving.

I have to agree the new dakotas are fugly.
I seen what most of the manufacturers are coming out with and my dads 1983 ford f250 brick on wheels is coming back into style. Except his gets 13 mpg with a 460 v8 all stock truck to probably hits 14 mpg with exhaust and advanced timing. Might try to trade trucks with him
to save some gas. I still dont believe fuel injection saves gas since my 3.9 QC gets 13 mpg
A family member used to own the old caddy v16 that would get 20 mpg
Go figure...

Yeah, I don't think I'd call the new dakotas ugly, but not as nice as 97-04...the durango on the other hand is the most butt ugly piece of crap on the road, it looks like a bloated Jeep Liberty (another fugly vehicle). I love the hemi and stuff they did with it, but I would never want to be seen in one. Do they poll people before they make these changes or just assume that they can do whatever they want?

I dont like the new look either but its growing on me "slightly" That new Durango tho should be taken out back and shot. It looks like a pig on wheels. Honestly if the back doors slid it could pass for a minivan. YUK!
