Subject: freon in drain pipe|
i have a 98 dakota V6- been charging the ac system with the charge lasting a day or so, looked for leaks and it appears that the drain pipe is draining water and refrigerant, the refigerant has a yellow tint to it, Uv stuff although i do not have a light, it is clear that is the source. please help before i send it to the shop...best regards.

sounds to me that you mite have an evaporator leak if it is coming out of the a/c drain tube, the water coming out of the tube is normal condensation drip, but the yellowish liquid sounds like it's a/c lubricant wich is not normal to come out of the tube, your best bet is to evac the system and then add the leak detector die and then see where the leak is coming from, but if you have a 98 you will have to take the whole dash apart just to look at the evaporator core or hopefully it will come out of the a/c drain tube as well, anyway sounds to me like the evaporator core.
