I just changed the computer in my '89 - 3.9 - 4WD.
It fixed the voltage regulator problem. Now, how do I get rid of the "maintainence required" light on the dash? I tried resetting the computer (remove negative cable, turn key on for 15 seconds) but is is still there. I can live with it, but is htere a way to get rid of it?

I tried the 1 minute approach and it is still there. Any other suggestions? Other than taking it to a dealer or mechanic and paying 40 bucks? I'm really not too bothered by it, I just figured there was an easy way to do it.

Many AutoZone and Checker stores (Schucks, Kragan) have OBD's that they'll hook up for free to troubleshoot the source of the light. Might be worth a try...
