I believe there was no EGR valve from 1996 to 2004. Did you check fault codes?

Come on people, buy a manual and actually learn something about
your truck for a change.

You know how to poop right? Did you post on here first to learn
how?

Do you need help dressing yourself too?

Stop being so lazy, get off your d e a d a s s and buy a damn
manual and read it.

Actually, EGR is back now on at least some 2005 Dakotas.

"how does that bit of useless information help someone with a '97?" It doesn't. If you had half a brain, you'd realize it was directed toward JFH. You'd also realize that I told sonet to check fault codes, and there has been no report back.

Sounds more like the IAC Idle Air Control
located on back of TB 2 #20 or 25 torx to remove
you can try cleaning with carb cleaner but do not
push pull or twist on the valve

If that don't do it replace around $40

Check TPS volts digital meter center wire and
ground key on engine not running open and close
throttle half a dozen times make sure it always
returns to same low volts .3 to .7 but always the
same

97 has no EGR

Thanks Bob, I haven't read too much on the newer Dakotas yet. Wonder why they brought back that useless EGR?

Like before, couldn't pass emissions without it. I'm glad my '92 has at least some grease fittings. After all I've read about the front end trouble with newer ones, I'm glad I can grease most of the chassis.

have to do with " 1997 Dodge Dakota V6 EGR VALVE "??
if you had half a brain you would stay on subject istead of introducing new ones that no one is interested in.

Apprently you didn't read the first half of the message, ergo, your brain deficiency. There is still nothing useful posted by you in this thread.

LOTS of people are interested in the ball joint issue, disputing your claim.

I have a 97 Dakota, that when I pull up to a light it will cut off. Starts back up fine, but it is getting worse, if I shift into neutral before I competely stop it stays running. Someone suggested the EGR valve, but if you guys say there is no EGR on the '97 any other suggestions. I have already replaced the TPS, and the IAS.

check your fuel pressure. on the back of the fuel rail, there is a valve that you can test the pressure at idle with a pressure gauge.
