2004 cc, 3.92 gears, auto, 4x4 with 32" muds. im getting about 14.5 recently, it sucks

I have a '04 Dakota SXT V6 and I'm getting 15.0 MPG. It's all city driving. I haven't checked the highway mileage yet, but I'm interested in what the mileage will be.

You probably have a heavy foot. That mileage isn't unusual for a vehicle like that. I know a guy with a new full size Chevy BB who gets 8.5 and doesn't complain. It's all relative. Those big tires don't help. I also see a lot of guys who always drive 70 and 80 on the highway and then bitch about their poor "highway" mileage....

i know my truck isnt set up for great milage, but even stock, with mostly freeway driving i didnt get any better than about 17.5 i really regret not getting the 4.7 not that the 3.7 is a bad engine, just that i could get this milage with the 8 and have more power to turn my larger tires

On my 2004 Quad 4X4, I average around 20.5 to 21.5 mpg. I
drive about 120 miles a day, about 65% highway, the rest city
and mountain.

I have an 04 2wd RC, Auto, 3.92 gears and the best I got was ~20.5 doing about 65-70 all highway. I normally see ~20mph with driving 3/4 highway averaging 100 miles a day 4 days/week.

My heavy footed friend gets 15 with his '04 3.7 SXT 4x4. Complaines about it all the time, but he cant back out of my driveway without spinning a little. Meanwhile, my '02 sport 2x4 cannot break 20 no matter how hard I try. I can consistently get 19.5 with about 50/50 hwy/city. (I have to leave the gate down to get it, however.)

I got a 2004 2x2 3.7 and i get about 20 mpg mostly highway driving at 60 mph.

I have an older 89' Dakota 3.9L 4x4. I just recently tuned it up and get about 20 mpg's highway. Thats the best I gotten so far. I used to get about 17 highway. All I did was start replacing old parts. And thats a work still in progress. Also, I should note, I had average AT tires on for a while and then replaced them with some heavier duty tires ( two front= off-road capability; two back= goodyear's work-horse snow/mud tires ). My mpgs had declined noticably. And so did the road noise ( Joking :) ). I am wondering what adds I can do to help increase the mpgs. I am thinking changing the Oxygen Sensor, catalitic converter, maybe somethings else. But gas ain't getting any cheaper. :);)

I know it's not the best in the world but my 04 3.7l Dak gets much better mileage than my 99 3.9l Dak...both R/C 5sp. The 99 was a nice truck but maaaaan it was a hog on gas.
Overall I'm pretty pleased.

My '04 CC 3.7 gets just under 17 in the city and about 21 on the highway, a little less if I am heavy footed.
