 Subject: 1990 Dakota selling price

An uncle is parting with his 1990 4WD Automatic Dodge Dakota. It's in excellant condition with 59,000 miles. He rebuilt the tranney, repainted it and did alot of cosmetic work to it. He's asking $4,000.00 for the truck. It is a basic truck without any bells and whistles. I think the price is too high but says he will not drop. What do you all think??
My fear is if I buy it and begin driving ( the truck sits alot) that seals and other nickle and dime parts will go bad.......no to meantion the 4,000 price tag, I think is too high.
Any advice will be appreciated.

if it is a reg cab long bed with the 3.9 in and in good mechanical and aesthetic condition then it is worth $2,100. Extended cab( dont know if was available in '90) and in excellent condition probably worth $2,500. Don't quote me on this but there is no way it is worth $4,000. I bought a 1993 with every option xcept the 5.2 and 51,000 miles for $4900. Hope this helps!

I did forget to say it's a V6 3.9 but it's not a long bed nor does it have a king cab. I thought the 4,000 was alittle pricy! I think he's trying to get his money back for the cosmetic work he put into it. Thanks for your reply.

check out kbb.com or edmunds.com. They list what you can expect to pay as a private party. I think around 2500 maybe a little high.

I bought my '91 two years ago. Its a two wheel drive, 5-speed, V-6, long bed. Had around 113,000 miles on it and it was $2000. This included a safety inspection, emission inspection, new plug wires and catalytic converter.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment. I checked out the 2 sites listed above. There is no way it's worth 4,000. I sent an e-mail to him and told him if he drops to call me. He will be running it in the paper this week.
