 Subject: Gut cat or replace

Hey guys I am in the process of replacing my torque converter and front pump. I have the exhaust completely out of the truck and have discovered that the cat sounds like a baby rattle. I am thiking of just knocking the guts out of it. I am also going to put a Flowmaster 40 in it. Will this do any harm because of to little back pressure?

Get a hi flow cat, I had mine guttet, and now have a hi flow cat, it sounds and performs much better, plus it was only $30 on ebay.

Well bob, don't have any neighbors within 2miles. None have asthma. And don't have emmisions testing.
Thank you for the concern over my well being. It is cheaper and louder than a new cat.

Gee, I'm glad your car exhaust can't go more than 2 miles, and you don't travel that far. You have no effect on anyone else.
BTW, it doens't matter if you have emissions testing or not. It's still a felony to remove or disable a catcon. You may not get caught, but it is still illegal, and it is still an assault on everyone wherever you go. Running without one will increase your HC emissions by ten times.
If you like loud, just crank the stereo all the way and finish melting your brain into mush.

Don't have car exhaust have truck exaust. Don't listen to radio much either can't hear it over the mufflers. I stated my opinion, BOB, i like no cat and have had the cat checked by local pd before and stated nothing about putting it back on, so BACK OFF.

you loose power by gutting the cat, put on a $30 hi flow cat (ebay)you will not loose any sound and you will gain low end torque. I have had both.

Like JFH said, magnum engines require a little backpressure to operate properly. factory cat's have a little too much therefore go with the hi-flow. with the 40 series muffler it sounds great.

local PD don't care as it is not in their jurisdiction. No cat is a FEDERAL EPA thing. if you sell the truck to ANYONE and they discover the cat has been removed it is YOU NOT THEM whats goes to jail and has the big fine when they report you to the Federal EPA. Unfortunately there are just too many asselkopfs (the word is German) that just don't care that others might want to have clean air to breath or are just plain looking out for them.

simmer down. You are both wrong! Solution: Tru duals one bank have 7cats for bob and 1 be a straight pipe for bud. Problem solved. SAFE AND LOUD
