to install the muffler you will probably have to cut out the old one and depending on the difference in length get a small peice of pipe and then weld it all together, i guess you could use clamps and tighten the crap out of it, but it will probably leak still.

Go find a cheap little family-run muffler shop and have em weld it all on for you...you've already paid for the expensive part.

How hot does the exhaust system components get? I guess i can whip out my multi meter and test the temp on mine.

Anyone ever tried clamps and high heat sealant? I've seen some that go to 650 degrees and is safe for oxygen sensors.

I have a slip fit universal 2.5 in out carsound
cat clamped and my dynomax is also sliped and
clamped where in the world do you get the idea
that it would leak unless welded

This system is 3 years old and never leaked

Just be sure the size is right and at least 1 1/2
slip into pipes

So Larry did you use anything to seal the pipes or did you just remove the muffler, set new muffler into place and clamp the new one back in? I know the new muffler is shorter then the stock and that I will have to make a longer pipe but is that all I would have to do? So no welding? Thanks

How would you move the rear section of the exhaust to take out the stock muffler? I know there are hangers but if I take them off would I be able to put it back on myself or have some help me? Or is there a way to move the rear section of the exhaust without taking it off the hangers?

the hangers mount to the truck via rubber donuts(for lack of a better term). a little WD40 or silicone spray and the "donuts" will slide right off. then you can set the tailpipe down and get the muff out.

it's really easy.

I had mine clamped for years, but last year I bought a high flow cat converter and had a local shop weld it in, and the welded the muffler at the same time, only cost $50 for the whole job.
