AlrightI took my truck into today to get the first brake job in the year since I've owned it, and about 2 hours later I get a call from the shop owner and he says, that I need to get there as soon as I can because he has to show me something. So I get to the garage, and he pulls me over to the truck which is up on the lift and says look at the bolt holes and the bolts that hold the Caliper on. I looked at the top ones and they were normal but the bottom ones had been stripped clean. According to the mechanic, it is a relatively common problem on both dakotas and durangos, and I would recomend looking or having a mechanic look the next time you take your truck in for a brake job.

I have had no less than 6 brake jobs on my 97 DAK and have never had any bolts stripped out. And oh yea, the shop said the same thing about dakota lugs stripping "Its a common problem". And I told him, your mech hammered on the lug nuts without using a torque stick and screwed them up. That is what is common about stripped out parts, the Mech who stripped it out.
