 Subject: 89' will not go faster then 70mph

Ok i have a 1989 dodge dakota 3.9 v6 which i just bought about 4 months ago and has 57,000 miles on it. When I go on the highway it will shift into the 4th gear and will just stick at about 2k rpm and will not go above 70mph. Also on a side note it has very slow acceleration going up hills. What can i do to fix this problem? Thank ahead of time.

oh i forgot to say im also only getting like 6 to 7 miles per gallon

temp sensor,in intake frt driverside
02 sensor
run the codes,one or all of these should come up if there faulty and all can and will cause poor mileage

Sorry, couldn't resist. Just outta
curiosity, have you done any full throttle run-ups?
Seriously, go out and lay into it. Will it pull at full throttle?
Will it pull near full throttle in overdrive? If the MAP and/or
O2 sensors are bad, it'll typically cause a run-rich
situation....just like what the computer does at wide-open-
throttle. If it pulls, definitely change the sensors. If not, it
may be an ignition issue, but the sensors already
mentioned are definitely #1 on the list of suspects and
should probably be replaced regardless.

Change your O2 sensor, i got 8mpg when i had mine go bad.

i just bought a new one but i cant put it in today cuz of all of the rain so ill put it in tomorrow and see what happens

plugged up catcon...........had the same problem, changed it out, fixed the problem, also changed the sensors and reset the computer.
