Subject: 1993 V6 3.9L Won't stay running?? Help!!

Hello all,
I have a 1993 Dak 2WD with 3.9 It was running fine, then all of a sudden it won't stay running a lot of the time. If it is in park and you crank it up when it is stone cold it will crank and stay running fine, if you then cut it off and crank it back up it will crank and immediately die. If you turn on the a/c and cut it off then immediately try and crank it, it will die. You can get it to keep running by putting a foot on the brake, a foot on the gas - cranking it, giving it enough gas to hit 600 rpm's then putting it in gear - then it will maintain idle - however, if you cut it off and back on it will crank up and die. No check engine lights come on, nothing.
Also, if you floor it when you have gotten it to crank it will choke down and die a lot of the time?
I put in some fuel injector cleaner stuff with a full tank of gas about a month ago, and I had the muffler replaced a few weeks ago, but it had run ok since each of those for a week or two.
Any thoughts anyone on where to start??? Thanks if anyone has any input.

Possible bad ( leaky ) injector [ maybe more than one ]
Also have you checked out the splice of 3 or 4
wires just under the underhood fusebox ?
It is about 6 to 10 inches away from the fusebox
wrapped up in the harness , If you see any ' green ' mess at all or it may also come apart if
you even lightly pull on it !!
Redo it , use good quality crimpable joiner
or solder and tape up tight..

low fuel pressure
fuel filter
intake plenium gasket
plugs,wires,cap
idle air valve, dirty
speed sensor
and the things that are posted earlier

test/check these things, one or more can be causing the stalling

I replaced the fuel filter today. Also replaced the plug wires, but not the plugs themselves yet. I have a cap and button I am going to put on as well. It seems a little better, but it will still choke down if you step on the gas - it will drop down to about 200 rpm's then either catch and jump back up to 800 rpm's or stall out.
I now also have coolant leaking from somewhere that is dropping right in the middle of the truck at the back of the engine. Any suggestion on where to start looking for the coolant leak?
Thanks for all the advice, I am working on it.

I am have the same problem exactly with my 93 Dak 2wd 3.9 I had the problem once last summer and then a 4 days ago it started every day. I have no idea what it all about. I did find a consumer report the talks about a “Rough idle” problem because of a problem with the idle air control motor especially in warm weather. http://auto.consumerguide.com/Auto/Used/reviews/full/index.cfm/id/2022/act/usedcarreviewreliability/

I had almost identical situaion, A bad fuel pump. It would produce enough pressure to idle but would not run any faster. The mechanic did a fuel rail pressure test and it confirmed it

Thanks for the input everyone. It was the idle air motor causing the cutoffs, and the timing cover gasket causing the coolant leak.
Had it all fixed and the timing chain etc. replaced while the cover was off. Didn't wind up costing me very much.
Thanks for all the help, and the list of possible causes!

As unlikely as it is that anyone is still
monitoring this, but I'm having asimilar
problem with mine.
If left to sit over night it'll fire up,
but turn it off&you'll need to drop the
throttle to get it to fire up again. Won't
idle. Won't run at anything less than
1200rpm. Double pedaling while driving to
keep it at 1400rpm or it'll cut out. Put
it in park&it revs itself to 3000rpm. Will
stick at about 1700rpm then settle down
till it nears 1000rpm or what would be
near the normal idle then cuts out.
