Hello looking to get a new muffler I want something that rumbles nice outside sounds close to V-8 but not loud inside the truck cab can anyone help me out 2003 dakota 3.9L 4x4

I put a flowmaster 70 on mine. Not too loud in the cab and much louder than stock outside. Do not expect any muffler to make your truck sound like a v8. They will all make it sound like a loud v6

Get a Dynomax 17748 from Summit racing 2 1/2 in and 2 1/2 out sounds great and is very reasonable

I agree with xmr.
Swapped just the new muffler for the stock one.
Only costed like $100.
It sounds freakin close to a V8, trust me. The guy's Ram down the street from me sounds very similar, and he has the 5.9L V8. The interior noise isnt obnoxious, but its a little louder than others. It also drones a little bit around 1,500 RPM.
In my opinion, This is the best sounding muffler for the price. At least for our 3.9L V6.

I never have tried to hit top speed, at my age it is how fast it will get to 70 not how fast it will run
