Ive got a problem with my stock 92 3.9 that I am hoping someone can help with . Whenever I start it cold , it goes to a high idle and seems fine , but if I touch the gas before it is up to operating temp , it floods out and dies . I have to hold the gas to the floor to get it restarted , and when I do , it is spitting black soot and moisture out my tailpipe . I am assuming it is fuel , since my mileage has dropped from 19 to about 13mpg. It runs fine after it reaches temp . I live in Georgia , so it is really not that cold . It is not only the first start of the day , but anytime its below operating temp. Since this started , I have replaced plugs , wires , cap , rotor , dist. gear and bushing , timing chain , and o2 sensor . Nothing has had the slightest effect on the problem . The truck has 168,000 miles on it and everything is still stock, except the timing chain tensioner I just added . No fault code either . Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Yeah. Stop shotgunning it and read the fault codes first.
