I have a 1987 dodge dakota 2WD It is the truck my dad got me for my brithday i am only 15 and i would like to know how hard it would be to put a 360 ci V8 in the truck and putting a 5 speed trans in it to me and my dad wear going to work on it but he passed away over the summer so any help would be nice.

Sorry bout your dad... I lost my mom to cancer not quite 2 years ago.

In all honesty, unless you've got a LOT of mechanical knowledge, time, and money, it'll be a lot cheaper and easier to just trade it in for a V8. If it still runs good and you wanna keep it, I'd just work on fixing it up as it is now.

Dude, sorry to hear about your old man! I also lost my father to cancer less than a year ago. But I'd go with Josh's advice. Dropping in a 360 would require a lot of work and money. And probably give you a lot of problems. Study up on it though. Good luck!

To be really honest with you, try studying up on a 340 instead of the 360. If you can get your hands on one than it's probably a lot easier to accomplish. But if your stuck on a 360 than go ask a real mechanic, someone who drags cars or something. They would know best. It can be done!! I know that for a fact.Good luck little man!!
