Okay, what gives? I just installed the Gibson single Swept Side catback exhaust system on my 2002 RC 3.9 SXT. The reason I bought the system was because they claimed that most of the sound would come from the tailpipe. The buzz inside the cab is annoying as all get out! I do have a soft tonneau on my bed, so I'm curious as to whether it's acting as a resonator. I may have to consider getting a spray-in bedliner sooner than I thought before I go deaf!

is it a striaght through muffler (like a glasspack) or a chambered muffler (like a flowmaster).... the straight through muffs are very annoying in the cab... i had one and switched to the flowmaster and it is much better.

Yeah, it's a straight through muffler. I'm not sure I'm going to be keeping that on my truck very long. Which Flowmaster muffler do you recommend? (One that has a good sound) Gibson said that this kit would give me a 10-12hp increase, would a Flowmaster muffler replacement be equivalent? (I'm not familiar with Flowmaster) Can I use the Gibson pipes or will there need to be some modifications? Thanks for your feedback!

Give your Gibson some time. Mine was increadibly loud at first, then mellowed out after a few weeks. I think it has to sort of break in the packing in the muffler (just my guess). I don't even notice mine with the windows up anymore.

Lattimer, are you sure it mellows out or have you just lost some of your hearing. =)
Intense, does the 40 Series have a 2.5 inch inlet and 3 inch outlet?

Mine was never that loud. But it did seem to get quieter over the first couple of months. I don't have a tonneau, so maybe that makes a difference.....
