i have only done the v8 throttle body, that cost me 41 dollars, and a flowmaster muffler...$150. and some diff spark plugs, but i have noticed a nice gain over stock, plus as soon as i have 40 bucks in my wallet im going to do the crank sensor mod...but that would be free for you.(i need the metal mounting plate)

Hi Nick
ok some to start with and are cheap to no $$$

Crank sensor Mod. do a search here and you'll find all the how too's and one with step by step pics,
next IAT sensor relocation,
(neither will cost any $$$ only your time)

next 3 - replace stock muffler with a performance of your choice
(dyno max, flow master, gibson etc. etc.)

K&N air filter & or cold air intake
(you can make one yourself from pvc pipe and save some $$$) a search here will give you all the how too's

and replace the stock clutch fan with a good electric unit
(i myself noticed quite a bit of difference leaving a light with this change)

however the biggest difference i noticed came from relocating the IAT sensor

and there ya go from here things are still available but will cost a bit more....
have fun and be sure to let us know the progress as you go ..............

Here's my how-to with pics on doing the CPS-mod...it's free (minus your time) if you don't mind risking screwing up your stock sensor or if you shop around it's around $50 for a new sensor. Some places charge like $95 for the sensor...Advance Auto Parts was expensive I think whereas Autozone was about half the price.

http://blackshire-server.bounceme.net/OhioDakotas/docs/Crankshaft%20Position%20Sensor.doc

If that doesn't load, try back later...my internet connection has really sucked lately and my server uses my home connection.

Um... bout the IAT sensor relocation. That one's iffy...some truck take to it really well and some run like crap. It'll be trial and error...if if don't work well, just move it back and plug the hole where you'd moved it to.

I'd say these are some good mods...

V8 tb (or get a modified V6 tb)...I went the cheap route, bought a stock V6 tb and then used a dremel to smooth it all down. I'll prolly be switching it with an F&B later this year. I think Larry generally says it goes like this:
Good: V8 tb
Better: Fastman tb
Best: F&B tb

The V8 tb is by far the cheapest route to go.

Some other mods:
Cold air intake...mine's more of a warm air intake cuz I bought a chrome Edelbrock round air cleaner that sits right on top the tb and put a K&N filter in it. Makes my 98 look carbed...and looks like it's got balls now.

Exhaust...I have an original Flowmaster 40 series with a 3 1/2" turndown after the bed. I love it...but it's plenty loud and depending on how touchy car alarms are downtown, the echo from it has set it's share of them off. Popular favorites are Flowmaster 40's, 50's, and 70's (also throw the delta flows into that category...what one you get depends on how loud you're looking for with 70 series being the quietist). And also the Dynomax Super Turbo 17748 I believe.

Also, remove the rubber flap in front of your intake...if you pop the hood, I'm talking about the rubber flap to the left of the radiator. It'll let cooler air under the hood.

If you don't mind sacrificing a lil gas mileage, swap your stock 195*F thermostat with a 180*F thermostat. Takes a bit of time and effor to do due to it being down in a bit of a hole...so scraping the old gasket off is a real PIA, but it's worth it in my opinion.

Ummm...you can adjust your tv cable (if you got an automatic). If you adjust it just right it firms your shifts up and stuff...can't remember exactly what all it does. But you gotta be careful...you go too far and you'll bounce off your rev limiter before it shifts, which would be quite embarrassing while driving in front of people. It's simple to do...do a search for it and you'll find it.

Adjust your TPS sensor if the voltage is low.

After all that, change your spark plugs...you could try Autolite AP3923's (which are a heat range cooler) gapped at .040 to .045 (start at .040 and adjust as necessary).

For more information on a lot of this stuff, go to http://www.speedtweaks.ca and check their Tips & Tricks section out.

Nick,
I've got an extra modified v6 tb, if you are interested 25$+ shipping. I switched to a v8 tb. You'll need to use your sensors, and a 2$ gasket. It's an easy part to switch, and you'll still have your stock tb if needed. If your exhaust system is still solid just switch the muffler(2 1/2 in/out),using the stock tailpipe. These motors like to have some back pressure, so stay on the conservitive side.
