Subject: Sputter/Backfire after Cold Start
IP: Logged

Message:
First the truck info: '98 V6 automatic 4x4.

Upon accelerating to ~35mph, my truck begins to
backfire. If I lay off the gas for a moment, then press the accelerator again, the sputtering stops and it seems to drive like normal. Sometimes these fits are preceded by a somewhat low frequency pulsing when idling in gear. When I'm at a stop light or stop sign, the tach will oscillate between about a 200rpm interval.

The problem started with a cold snap we had a couple of weeks back. Thinking that maybe the low temperature was to blame, I'd let my truck warm up for about 10 minutes before going to work in the mornings. On the drive to work I experienced no trouble. But, when I hopped into my truck to leave work, the problem I have described above occurred. And so it continues to the present.

Any help/advice/ suggestions would be very appreciated.
