Man I hate cold mornings! Yesterday I hit this very large dog going about 40-45 and broke my truck! I guess because it was so cold, I didn't have time to let it fully warm up, when I hit fido it broke the fromt bumper cover, pushed the ac condenser into the radiator and in turn broke the electric fan and shroud all to heck! I am taking this oppertunity to get rid of the old mechinical fan and replace it with a perma-cool 16" 2950 cfm electric fan. I know several people have done this, I have read the post. But I have not seen any follow up post on how well this idea has worked out for those who have done it.

If you have done shch a mod please share your results with me. Any HP gain, either actual or felt? Does the truck ever overheat? I have ordered the A/C relay to turn the fan on when the A/C comes on, and the fixed thermostat.

Oh yeah, on our trucks, Mine is a 2002, the original electric fan, does any one know if it was controled by a thermostat? And could it be possible to just use the old connector and "plug and play"? Or did it work off of some other way?

Thanks in advance

AJ

yes, the fan is thermo stat controlled along with the a/c control. you might want to look at the Black Magic 180 Extreme by flex-a-lite also. here is a post someone on here put up. check it out:

I have read about the other fan options. The perma-cool pulled the lowest amps and flowed the most air. So you think that just plugging into the existing wiring will work without putting the relay and t-stat on it?

not even going to waste the time to respond.
