 Subject: Superchips programmer for V6

I was looking to buy one of these for my 2000 V6 and found on Superchips' web site that this programmer was "intended for unmodified stock engines". I called their tech support and was told that if I had an intake and a catback exhaust that it would still work but when I told him I had headers he said "it's probably not going to work for you". Those of you that have bought this, what kind of mods do you have and did you feel you got your money's worth?

I have a cold air intake on my 01 Dakota. I installed the superchip and noticed a nice improvment in the otherwise slugish v6

I have a superchips programer and go between the 2 performance programs 89 octane & 91+ octane based on gas prices. Mods I have, F&B 48mm throttle body, 360 powershot cold air intake system, JBA headers w/silver ceramic coat, Flowmaster 40 series dual out rear exhaust. No matter what program i use i always feel a improvement over the stock settings. Generally smoother idle and trans shifts, you can also program out the speed limiter. This is just my take. Someone else may have gotten different results. Overall i'm satisfied w/the superchips.

I don't know why the tech would say that unless they are trying to dodge some kind of liability. The superchips is a great addition to any v-6. With my mods it works great.
