Ok Please help if u can this problem is getting really anoying!!
I have a 97 Dak 3.9, and it runs fine when warm, but when the cold weather hits, it starts fine and runs 4 about 5 min of driving then it starts to die, and I have to keep the revs us arround 2000 to keep it running, then 5 more min down the road it is fine. I changed the coolant temp sensor and still the same. Someone in an old post sugested the AIT sensor, i think i might try that next.
any help would be awesome.
Thanks,
Brian

Sounds like an IAC problem. (Idle Air Control) Which is a little motor in your throttle body that controls the Air flow to the motor at idle. I talked with a Dodge tech about a similar problem I was having with my truck. Also, the Dakota throttle bodies are known for getting dirty and acting up, try getting some throttle body cleaner and an old SOFT toothbrush and cleaning the throttle body. If nothing else a clean throttle body means better performance than a dirty one. Good Luck.

Ok I tested the IAT sensor as per my haynes manual and it was all good. I have cleaned the throttle body. Then i did a little playing with vac lines and my evap system and discovered that when the truck is spittin and pukein if i disconect the hose rinning between the throttle body and the evap control solenoid it runs nice, but plig that line with my thumb and she starts coughin. So I have replaced the solenoid with one from a wrecker, and just have to wait till mornin to see the results.

does anybody know what that evap solenoid actually does??
Cheers
Brian

Try this, pull the MAP sensor out and put it in the house over night by a heater vent, then stick it back in you truck. The truck may run a little funny at first but the computer will adjust in about 10 minutes. When moisture gets in the MAP sensor it will casue your engine to do funny things when it cold outside. Are you getting any codes?
