How do you go about figuring out which generation of dak you have?... What are the year ranges?

I may be wrong but this is what I think.

86-90= Gen1
91-97= Gen2
97-current= Gen3

The common breakdown on the Internet is:

87-90= Gen1
91-96= Gen2
97-current= Gen3

It makes it easier to identify the body style of the truck. Slight changes were made to the nose in 91 to accommodate the V8 option.

In reality, the official Dodge designation is:

87-96 = “N” Body
97+ = “AN” Body
