Which is better... The Black Magic 150 for $190 or the Permacool for $90 that had the same cfm rating. I was thinkin black magic but my friend (has a nissan 300zx) and he says the permacool is better. What you guys think?

talk to chuck. I can't say personaly! A close friend of his has the B/M 150 and he has the Hayden. he will be able to tell you. From what i understand the fan is made better than the hayden and permacool. you can get his email address off of his site www.intense99dak.com

also he works as and EMT (?) and has goofy hours...he may not get back for a few days...

I know i am going to get the B/M 150

Facts= Black magic 2800cfm, 15 inches coolong surface, 13.9 amp draw Permacool- 2950cfm, 9 amp draw, 16 inch cooling surface The permacool cool better over a larger area, and also draws 33% less amps. You'll be driving low RPM's (off road)- the black magic will screw your alternator up at low RPM's with suck a high draw.

thats what my friend is arguing, but all u guys are gettin black magic... i need some more input please!

like i said talk to chuck... also, he has a fix for the charging system...i'll be doing it...it's probably a good idea anyhow...

also from what i undersood, yes the permacool does mover more air but it doesn't move it over the motor enough... the fan need to move air through the radiator but also over the motor...it it doesn't do that then you will always overheat...

you may wanna try it out and give report back. I'm just not going to garrenty it will work good enough.

one question i have for you is, do you plan on leaving the fan shroud off?

what is the fix for the charging system? thats one thing i was worried about is if the electric fans draw too much power. Appreciate your feedback Tim.

So, to fix the charging problem he put an underdrive pulley on or did he change the wires? I'm confused about his underdrive pulley part cuz he sai he had to incease isle when he had the a/c and fan and hgealights on. But i dont know if he meant that for b4 or after the pulley...

Talk to Rascal he's in here every once in a while. He's tried them all on his 5.2. The permacool claims 2950 but thats its max pull, or something along those lines. When it comes down to it the B/M pulls more. The motor on it is stronger (I think this is why) thus the permacool bogs down and won't reach its claimed 2950. The b/m holds steady 2800 becausee of the better motor. (thus the more amps)

well, i think your a bit confused. he put the underdrive pulleys on and found out (like all) that you can not run the alternator or water pump pulley. doesn't turn the alternator enough and doesn't pump enough water through the motor.

he then fixed the pulley issue and then added the elec fan and found out that it was pulling to much with the lights, A/C, and a few other things. So what he did was change the wires that lead to and from the alternator, starter, and battery. this is what i was refering to before.

use this link as a direct link (it won't have any of his frames for the webpage) http://www.intense99dak.com/charging.htm

One of the main reasons that we have problems is that the wiring is not large enough for easy travel. just like the headlight wiring...many have upgrade this to get brighter lights...

btw good explination (4WDakota)! that is what i was trying to say a little differentely. the permacool fan isn't throwing enough air over the motor. this is where it is not working very well. also i know that many V8's just can't keep them cool with an elec fan. even the V6's have a little trouble. deffiniately use radiator relief. IF you still have a cooling problem then put your fan shroud on (if it's off), then upgrade your water pump (www.speedtweaks.net) has a great one!
