I have a 95' V6 and have changed the plugs, wires, rotor and Distributer cap TWICE. The problem seems to only be when the temp is below 30^F. The truck will buck and pop like the timing is off and I'm lucky to be able to go 35MPH with the pedal to the floor. On warmer days it runs fine. The truck has always had poor mileage 14mpg. But this cold weather thing has me HOTT. Any heat sensor ideas? Or anything that makes sense with cold weather would be great. Thanks Rob.

Engine temp sensor locates by thermo housing under
A/C unit 2 wires About $6 Auto zone
IAT located in #2 runner intake pass side just in
front of the cable bracket on TB
Hard vac hose that leaks when cold

I have the same problem with my 99 V6. I already changed the IAT and O2 sensors. Didn't help. I was thinking about changing the engine temperature sensor next. I was wondering if a sticky thermostat would prevent the engine temperatre sensor from heating up properly. Let me know what you think.

I have a similar problem witha 2000 3.9L. Sometimes when cold, especoally when fall turns to winter, the engine won't idle and you need to keep the foot on the gas pedal untiol it warms up. Other times it runs fine in cold weather. Has been this way since new. Dealer was no help at all.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem with my 99 3.9L. Once it warms up, its fine but until then I have to keep my foot on the gas. Never did it until I replaced the thermostat gasket (which had a small leak.) Now the leak is gone but the truck wont always start when its cold. Nice weather, truck runs great.

I replaced the coolant tempature sensor and it sloved the problem COMPLETELY. Its a $70.00+ part only available from Dodge but its an easy fix and it solved my problem. Hope this helps!

I had a problem some what like that and i found it to be the contacts on the Auto Shutoff Relay. You may want to check it.
