seems like D.C. might finally have to do a recall
on those crappy ball joints at least for 2000 to
2003..

I just called NHTSA and filed a complaint about my truck (1-888-327-4236 to file complaints). It's a 2000 Dakota with popping front ball joints. They haven't officially recalled them yet, as of 9:00 this morning, 12/10. But it seems as though the pressure is on. I also just called Dodge (1-800-853-1403) and they were talking about perhaps extending the warranties rather than recalling them. The operator told me that if I got the repair made now, I could be reimbursed later should they extend the warranties or issue a recall. I guess we'll see what happens.

have a 2003 dodge dakota 4x4 and noticed 2 or 3 days ago that the front ball joints was poping and was wondering if that had anything to do with the recall they had.

I just spoke with chrysler customer and they are still investigating problems with ball joint and tierod on the 98-99 dakotas.I was told that if they find the problem is wide spread enough they will do a recall on these also.So if enough ppl will put in complaints, maybe these can be fixed also or ppl can be reinbursed if they have already had the problem fixed. They said it will take about 3 more months to complete.
Call 800-992-1997.
