i dont know what year your dakota is, but look into the sylvania silverstar bulbs. i just put a set on my truck, and love them. mines a 97, and i do a lot of driving in very bad weather, which as we all know, seems to suck up whatever light you throw out. these are still bright. so look into them. also, see if your lights may be misadjusted. i got one of my hotrods painted once, picked it up at night, and turned on the lights. thought i blew a fuse because i couldnt see them. turned out the painter pulled the whole assembly off for paint, and never adjusted them when reinstalled.
so, try those, then go for the spotlights from the local theater.
