I imagine this is marks way of trying to make money, trying to get people to join the site. I don't feel comfortable becoming a member if this is the way he runs it. It's sad that the most popular dakota site is by far the worst. Of course, that could be the reason it's the worst.

Jeremy - I imagine you're wrong; I don't believe for one minute that Mark is behind this. I also believe this is the best Dakota site; mainly because we're allowed to call each other wrong when we spy some BS. I like to see false info chalenged, and don't mind being corrected myself if I post something wrong - that's how people learn right answers, which are the only ones that really help solve peoblems. Got any way to back up your statement, or are you just out to slander someone ?

Joe - Did you contact Mark, or simply post that comment here ? He doesn't read every post. Some of us have had good luck getting offensive posts deleted when we bring it directly to his attention. By the way, the emoticon with this thread is directed at Jeremy, not you.

Hi Kowalski

nope had no idea who moderated/owned the site
i never did a "whois"

i'm still pretty new just found the site
2 maybe 3 weeks ago, i think the place is great
(outta work for the winter as usual)
but intend to join after i get through the holidays. for what its worth i thought 1 or more of the regular posters here had MOD. access
i run an open forum myself and i know they can be tough, i gave Mod. access to 3 of my regulars
to help keep up with the place.
(i just figured it was the same) no anger expressed an no offense taken was just making a "heads up"

now moving right along i think its great what all you guys have figured out with these V6's
my rodding days where in the 70's and early 80's and yepp all big V8's but with the gas prices now the 6's are a far better way to go unless its just a sunday cruiser.

which brings up a good question
i read alot about the horse power an TQ. drop on the bottom end when going with a true full duel exhaust on these, ok understandable cause i know when we did it on the big 8's it was for mid an upper gains. but has anyone tried doing it with a cross over pipe? i know that where you place the cross over pipe will also determine where your low end gains are. and ofcourse not over doing it with the pipe diam.
i was thinking dual 2 inch pipes
(2 inch cross over) and no more then 2 1/4 on the tails to increase the deep tone

so has anyone tried it with a cross over?
and who all wants to touch on the subject
lets hear your take (food for thought)

I was just going to leave it at that, but you seem to not understand my point. The best site about Dakota's in my opinion is dakotatrucks.com. Everyone is registered which puts a stop to the senseless attacks and nonsense. The only thing lacking over there, are members. Hence my comment about it being unfortunate this poorly run forum happens to be the most popular. My point is that, Mark let's everything slide in the "free" part of the site. For any kind of moderation you need to join. I can imagine that it's much better in the member area, but seeing how poorly it's run out here, I'd rather not find out. There are many things he could do to make this a much better place to visit. As mentioned above, letting some regulars have admin. access would be great, and I think the most important thing is to register users. If he offered that though, there really wouldn't be any reason to join would there? Just so we are clear, I didn't make a statement. It was an opinion and I rarely "back up" my opinions but it was clear you needed a little help. Put your tongue away, this isn't grade school.

I think making a few select members moderators would be a good idea. Mark is busy, as he is an IT Manager... If he finds nasty posts in his free time, he takes care of them. I have E-mailed him in the past about nasty threads, and he has promptly taken care of it...

The member area is GREAT! Nothing but good stuff in there..... People like to come and start wars in the "open" boards, but we are here to talk about our DAKOTAS :-) Not to talk trash. Trust me, there are PLENTY of non-members that are contributing friendly, and helpful. But we need to just pay no mind to the trolls, and keep truckin’

And just an FYI... I've seen Mark post more in the "free" forums than in the "Members Only" forums. In fact, I don't think he's posted in the "Members Only" forums in years...it's just called people who pay actually are actually respectful of the services they're given. Trolls aren't gonna pay to piss people off when they can do it for free...

There is no difference between the "free forums" and the "Members Only" forums except for who posts there.

And another FYI... registering may prevent some trolls, but it will not completely stop them. If they REALLY want to mess with people they'll spend 5 minutes and create a free account with a web-based email address and then use it til they're banned.

I believe when Mark created this site...he used an already pretty obselete message board system not expecting the site to become nearly as big as it is. This site was basically a site done in his free time. He has a real job too and doesn't have time to sit on here all day babysitting us.

If you wanna blame somebody, blame it on the immaturity of some human beings. If all people were mature, we'd have no problems...but of course that ain't gonna happen. My new site will have moderators. Currently there's 2 of us...and once it gets moving, there may be a couple more depending on how much power I want to hand out and how much time I will have to work on it myself.

You're right Dan, its an older system, run by Mark in his free time, and there's only provision for one moderator. All anyone has to do is use the contact link to alert him to a problem.

Jeremy - I stand behind my comment to you. You insinuated that Mark was behind this quite strongly, so you're not going to weasel out of this by claiming you didn't actually "state" it. You might take your own advice about putting your tongue away. The free exchange of info, and opinions, is a big part of what makes this site so good. You seem to want to be able to present your opinion without regard for anyone else's though; its not your site so it doesn't work that way. By the way, do you still beat your girlfriend ? Now I can be like you and claim I never actually stated you beat your girlfriend. See how this works ? Now, wouldn't it be better if we just got back to talking about Dakotas without the grade scool nonsense ? Take your own advice.

The Members only section is great. We are all becomming friends, learning each other by our real names, and we can trust each others information. If you are serious about your Dakota it is the place to be. Lots of valuble information, great people.

Saaay whhaaaaaaat?!?!?!

It was about the full page worth of "Dodge Sucks!!!" threads with absolutely no content...and the intent was obviously just to flood the message board.

Alright Kowalski, you can think what ever you want. I clearly explained what I meant, and your either unwilling to accept that, or not intelligent enough. Either way I'm washing my hand of it. I'd love to just talk about dakotas, but that's not even what this tread is about is it? I'm sure mark has plenty of reasons, but that doesn't make it any better. THis site is awful, and you are a large part of the problem it seems. I'm glad I havn't wasted any money on this.

This thread is about cleaning up some offensive postings on a Dakota website; which is exactly what Mark did. First you imply he made the postings himself, now you rant something about him having his reasons - which makes no sense at all. Bye-bye now, I'm not going to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

if this site is so terrible why are you posting on it? When I find something offensive I tend to not go back to it, not continue to go back to it and argue and say I did not say the things I did.
