my break light has come on, I know I need new pads, but would this cause it, It is the light that comes on when i push the e-brake in.

hi sean
if the "e-brake" you are reffering to
is the emergency brake also called parking brake
then your ok, the light is supposed to come on
when it is engaged. check your fluid level
to be safe
and if your sure your about do for brakes get them done soon you dont want them to start grinding.

Only two things make that light come on in normal service: setting the parking brake, and a fluid leak. It will not indicate pad wear. Check thoroughly for a fluid leak immediately.
