Hello. I have a 2000 Dakota 3.9L and it seems everytime I start my truck after it has rained, the truck shakes. I can't really describe it other than that. It kind of feels like the shaking is coming from under the truck, and after a few minutes it goes back to normal. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

Is it like a rough idle? maybe you have a bad spark plug wire or distributor cap. How many miles on the wires/cap/rotor?

The truck is 4.5 years old, and the wires/cap are original - about 55,000 miles. It is like a rough idle, that smoothes itself out after running for a few minutes. I'm planning on changing the plugs soon. Should I do change the wires/cap when I change the plugs?

yeah, I would replace it all. The plug wires can "leak" some spark, especially when it's damp outside. and the distributor cap could also be carbon tracked, and you could be losing plark there as well.... the book recommends that you change the cap/rotor at 60,000 miles or every 48 months (that sounds like wishful thinking to me :)

so you may as well change your wires cap and rotor when you do the spark plugs.. you may even get back a little fuel mileage, and pep with the new parts...

I used to toast my cap/rotor on my 3.9L about every 10k miles or so (I had an aftermarket coil and platinum plugs though :)
