hey guys im new to these boards and am just wondering what kind of gains should I get with these parts? MSD ignition coil, cap and wires.
a 180 degree thermostat, F&B 48mm T.B,Ported Magnum Intake Manifolds stage 1 from hughes engines and some sort of cold air induction. What kind of gains would I get from these things. And what else do you guys think I would need to keep up with my friends 94`lightning. It has the 351 winsor and its running a 14.88.

I am no expert, but if ya wanna keep up with your friends lightning, you'll need a lot more than those mods. You'd need maybe a stage 2 from hughes, some nitrous, headers, a custom turbo(?), some head work, etc. It takes a lot to get these heavy beasts moving, especially with the V6.

My mods -

Modded my own intake manifold
Jet stage 2 chip
50mm TB ported and polished
Homebrew K&N CAI
40 series 2.5" 1 in dual out flowmaster
IAT moved in front of radiator (gutterguard grill)
Bosch +4 Platinum plugs 7.5mm wires
Napa Cap & Rotor
Amsoil synthetics oil

And yes a THROTTLE BODY SPACER!!! (it was free)

My truck --- 2002 clubcab 3.9 5spd 4x4 silver dakota...I run 17.7 @ 79mph (OMG SLOW), some primer gray taurus beat me (16.1), I was so upset. The usual dakotas usually run around 16.9 - 17.2 with the mods I listed, no idea why my daks slow; but it looks damn good. It also tops out at around 119mph (downhill). I love my big slow dak, even with it's fat 265 tires, at least I dwarf the 4x2 models, and every other midsize truck.

Your 3.9 dakota is gonna be slow unless you throw some boost into it. I did my mods not to race, but to just overall improve my passing ability on the highway (it worked, especially the chip). I kill ALMOST everything in 1st gear, and I only have 3.55 gears. I murder malibu's mustangs and everything 1st gear, so after first I just let off the gas. You sure as hell won't keep up with a supercharged 5.4.

i've got all those mods already, you better get a supercharger
and figure out how to make your truck lighter if you seriously
want to keep up with your friend's truck, bigger gears would
help too

an 8 cylinder wouldn't hurt either, sorry but he's killing you in
torque land, no replacement for displacement
