32 EGR replace around $80

17 Engine running to cold

Either your running a 180 in to cold an area or
your engine temp sensor is bad

Replace the thermo with a reg stant 195 it will
run at 185 and solve the problem

The org thermo's are of a mettered flow design
and if you live where it gets to cold the 180
will not work.

The 17 will put the comp into a limp mode and that
is not good

I have the stock gauge,it reads just a hair past the "C",if youre familiar with the gauge. The entire cooling system has been replaced from the radiator to the thermostat & everything in between.

This truck has 261,000 miles on it & still gets 20-21 mpg average ( highway, city, etc.) I think thats pretty good, the engine runs a little rough, maybe with a new EGR it'll get another mile or two to the gallon. If the temp control switch is bad will that affect the gas mileage?

Ok,one other question,it doesnt really pertain to this thread, but anyway.I called up the local parts house & was gonna replace the valve cover gaskets,I was informed that I would have to buy 2 (two) NEW VALVE COVERS,thats crazy, but is it true.I take what these people tell me with a grain of salt after I had one tell me that my '87 Toyota didnt have a water pump. Thats all for now,Thanks for the replies.
