At 112500 miles I recently had a faulty water pump replaced , when i picked up the truck i made it about 5 miles before the truck lost all oil pressure and died with no warning. After 15 minutes id say it had cooled a little and started back up but didnt make it a mile before it died in an intersection and i called for a tow. Now it is in the mechanics garage and im looking for clues as to what could be the reason. It seems to sometimes show no oil pressure in the gauge and the oil light comes on too, but it sometimes dies and sometimes continues to run fine .... whats going on?

And when its dead and wont start .. theres no sputtering, itll turn over but no cumbustion goin on

check wiring under hood, drivers side, theres a fuse box, wiring from box about a ft out 3 wires splice together, these power up pcm, auto fuel shut off,and i don,t remember other,

un-tape this, find splice, clean slices, soldier, retape

this is common as these trucks get older,

also when the truck won,t start, with the key on does the check engine come on? if not this is a sign the splice is bad,

this may be why the oil light and pressure drop

If the motor stalls the oil presure will drop
instantly

93 v6 dakota: no spark
IP: Logged

Message:
I just put a used '97 V6 in my 93 dakota. Swapped fuel rails and injectors, oil pan, coil, distributor, alternator, and cps from my old engine. All else under the hood is original (wiring harness, vacuum lines, etc.) Broke the cps during swap, and replaced with new one. Hooked up the alternator wiring wrong the first time (grounded the alt.-to-starter wire) with the battery in. Alternator is wired correctly now. Upon trying to start it up for the first time, I have no spark at the coil. Checked fuses, tested coil, traced wires. No luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

Why are you asking about a suspension kit on a 5 1/2 year old post about no spark?
