If I put a TB off a V8 on my V6,what advantages will I gain if any. Im not looking at this from a horsepower standpoint, merely a fuel milage standpoint, with gas @ $2.00 a gallon or near it,I want all the mileage that I can get,was just wondering if this mod helps or hurts gas mileage.

All replies are appreciated.

Most of the mods you find on this board will help
both gas mileage and performance.

A V8 body and a cold air intake will help gas
mileage, low end virtualy the same but you will
notice better performance over 2000rpm most don't
see the gains because they like the power increase
and cant keep there foot out of it.

A good upgrade around 15 to 18 RWHP gain is
average from the swap

Use all your V6 sensors because you know there
good and it must learn the new body 200 to 300
miles it will run great, there is no need to do
a hard reset just bolt it on start and shut off
3 times so it learns the idle and drive it.

It will run a little better every time you drive
it for the first 2 300 miles

I put a V8 TB on my 99 Dakota. There was no decrease in gas mileage. There was no decrease in performance in the low end but a noticable increase above 2500 rpm.

I picked mine up at the local pick-n-pull junk yard fopr $30 and got the v8 hrottle cable from the local Dodge dealer for $18.

Do you mean like dem dar tb spacers? If I had all the power and gas saving claims from every mod I've heard about, I would have a 300 hp, 30 mpg dakota.

you will have to find a tb from a 95 or lower. I think a pre-mag v8 tb will work.

If an 89 is pre-mag (can't remember the years for this stuff), you'll need one off a pre-mag engine. Aren't 89's actually throttle body injected? You wouldn't wanna use a multi-port injection tb on a throttle body injected vehicle...lol

Larry or an owner of a gen. I Dak should be able to help you out a bit better.

The only way you would get 300hp is with a very large butt dyno. :-)
