I want a nice rumble coming from the back of my 99 Silver Dak 3.9 I just don't know much though. I hear Flowmster is good. IS there a specific "Dakota only" Flowmaster, or can I say use a Flowmaster muffler off a 72 Chevelle? Basically, I am asking exactly what do I need to get this all to work. Please drop any info, thanks.

why do people say that V6s with catbacks sound like V8s...people say it about my gibson...one guy said it sounded like a mustang

but my point is it doesnt sound like a V8
V8s dont make that much noise
it sounds like either a V6 with a catback or a V6 with an exhaust leak...but not a V8. V8s are just low pitched, but not that loud, unless u have exhaust on it at which point its much louder then a V6 with exhaust

not saying it doesnt sound cool/good though...mine does...especially in tunnels(gets iritating at times though)

I have a Flowmaster made for a Chebby full size p/u, its 3" inlet and 2 2.5" outlets.
Sounds REAL good almost like a V8 at idle but reved up its pretty loud and no it doesnt sound like a V8 at high RPM.

get a flowmaster 50 series SUV 2.5" single in/out or 2.5" in 2.25" dual out. the 50 series is not as raspy as the 40 series (i had one). You need to stick to the size pipes i said if it's not SC or turbo for good back pressure. if it is SC or turboed then you can go to a 3" in/out or 3" in 2.5" dual out.

one way to cheat on the size is i have 2.5" in/out and then right after the axle i had a 3" pipe welded in. The 3" pipe is bent to the stock exit. it looks like a 3" exhaust. I think it helps with the sound (a bit deaper), looks great, and i keep my back pressure. for a better description go to my site.

You know I had a Flowmaster 2.5 in and 2.5 out at first and then went to a 3" in and 2-2.5" out and it didnt affect my times at all?
Whats this with everybody having such an issue with a half an inch and back pressure, these aint 2 strokes you know?
Just thought I'd put my thoughts in here.

Oh and no I didnt have SC,Turbo or NOS then.
