 Subject: moog ball joints

hi everyone
has anyone tried putting the grease cover boot on the k7393 moog ball (for a 2000 q.c.)the boot has a metal ring at the base thats molded into the rubber.
i had replaced all 4 balljoints with moogs in'03 but they were for a 1999 2wd q.c.( at that time moog didn't have ball joints for '00 q.c. yet so installed ones for a 1999 dakota ) on these ball joints the grease boot just slide down and stayed in place.
i've all ready torn one of the new boots trying to install it,do not want to tear up another. the instructions just say to install it.but i did notice the picture did show a cut out part/notch in this ring that my new boots didn't have. any ideas? sorry for the long post
