 Subject: Water pump

How hard is it to change the water pump? The truck is leaking coolent from the front right area if you are laying on your back looking up at the motor. It is a 99 3.9 4x4, I am haveing a garage look at it and if it sounds like some thing I should be able to do I will. Thanks for any input.

I replaced my water pump 2yrs. ago while I was replacing my radiator. Once the rad. and shroud is out there's ample room to get in there and plunder around. This was not the easiest pump I've swapped out nor was it the hardest,(that distinction goes to a '78 trans-am w/403olds.) If you've never changed a w/pump, nows a good time to start....just keep a good attitude and giggle to yourself every time you bust your knuckles....and a repair manual is a good confidence builder. Definitly replace all the hoses etc. but most of all,have fun.

They are not that hard to do, it just takes a lot of time to take everything out and put it back together. As Chip B said a good repair manual is very handy to have.
