Hi Larry, thanks for responding. I had the carb completely rebuilt about 5 months ago. When I got it back and reattached it there was no pumpshot. I pulled it off and had the carb shop look at it again. The guy adjusted it and got the pump working. I reattached it and brought it to him to tune it and it was working pretty well. Now it's five months later and again I'm not getting any pump shot. Other than that the carb runs fine.

When he was working on it he was a little perplexed as he said, it worked fine on the bench. I'm not sure what he did to finally get it working attached to the truck.

This is a reputable shop. Is there something simple that maybe he is missing in rebuilding the accelerator pump that is causing the issue? Is there somehting tricky about the gen I two barrel holley carb that he should know? Does vacum/fuel pump pressure/timing come into play? This truck runs great accept that if I stomp the gas to pull into traffic it goes dead. I then have to back of the gas and step on it slowly and it moves along jsut fine.

I'd like to go back with a little more info if possible to get it right once and for all.

Thanks very much for your reply.

p.s. The truck has 140k miles on it. Like I said the original carb was just rebuilt.

Larry, I re read your post. Are you saying the that the float setting is key with regard to the pump shot? Is that the missing piece to why my pump shot isnt working?

it's been a while since i've done a carb but, to answer: "Are you saying the that the float setting is key with regard to the pump shot? Is that the missing piece to why my pump shot isnt working?"
it is possible the float level would affect the pump shot. if the float level is set too low, the bowl may not have enough fuel for a good shot. the engine would starve for fuel when you first hit the gas, just as if the pump wasn't working. re-check the float level.
