Hey all,

Anyone know how much oil the transmission takes for an 87 3.9 V6. I'm going to be changing the transmission oil soon, and don't want to put in too much when changing.

Thanks!

Frd

before you drain it check the level when you drain the fluid drain it into a good size pan and then mesure how much you took out and put the same amount back in. let it drain overnight if you can that way you will be sure to get as much as posible out of the tourqconverter too.

It takes about 5-6 qts from just draining the pan. If you remove the valve body, 7-8 qts. Total capacity when dry, 10 qts. You probably need to buy 6 qts.
