I know you all have heard this 1000s of times.

But, my 6cyl Dakota has no balls! Can't pass, won't maintain speed on hills, super-annoying downshifts (sometimes from 4th to 2nd) on even slight hills... I'm taking it in for a recall on the wiper motor, and want to tell them exactly what to look for. I have heard that there's nothing wrong with it, turn the overdrive off for hills, you name it.

I took a leap of faith to switch to a Dakota from GM, but am not likely, at this point, to replace the Dodge with another. Obviously, I can't go making all the fancy modifications while the truck is in warranty. So, do I just live with it until it's time to trade?

the v6 and quad cab is not a very good combonation. too heavy of a truck and too little grunt from the engine, not sure why dodge even offered the v6 in that truck configuration. a good way to combat this would be to upgrade your gears (sounds to me like you got 3.55s with your auto) see if the dealer will drop in some 3.92s, if not get some 4.10s. that will help the truck be able to pull its own weight much better.

although, its still a 2003, i'd say if youre that unhappy with the performance, trade it in on one with a 4.7 v8, you'd be much more happy with the drivability
